Schedule for HOSH

We meet once a week on Friday. Since our children spend Monday through Thursday at home studying their own curriculums, they look forward to HOSH Fridays. We've dubbed this day "Fun Friday".


Here is our schedule. (See below for further details*)


FUN FRIDAY
10:00 - 11:00 Academic hour - while we wait for everyone to arrive
11:00 - 11:05 Welcome and announcements by our student class president*
10:30 - 11:00 Student Presentation*
11:30 - 12:30 Parent Hour - Geography
12:30 - 1:30 Lunch*

CLASS PRESIDENT - Our older students take turns being the president. They serve for one semester.

STUDENT PRESENTATION - The student presentation is rotated among the students. This is an opportunity for them to share with others what they are learning at home. It can be something from their school subjects, or any subject that interests them. This gives the students experience with public speaking and preparing interesting presentations.

PARENT HOUR - This is a favorite time for us parents. We take turns teaching the students a subject of our choice. This year we have elected to center our "parent hours" on geography.

LUNCH - usually we bring a sack lunch or go across the street to Gubei carrefour. Sometimes we have a special "geography" lunch so we can taste the cuisine of the countries we are studying. FRIDAY AFTERNOONS VARY FROM WEEK TO WEEK
If we don't need this afternoon to practice our music and program for our SOS visits, and if we don't need this afternoon to go on our SOS visit, we use it to do a variety of other events. Field trips, like our recent trip to a furniture factory. Or sports, like our recent ping pong tournament and badmintion tourny.
